SAT and ACT Test Prep
“Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.” ~ Chinese Proverb
If you plan on going to college, you’ll need to take the SAT or ACT–both standardized tests administered to high school students and used extensively by college admissions.
Taking tests is nerve-wracking for most people, but it doesn’t have to be! Nerves associated with taking standardized tests can be alleviated by one simple detail: preparation. Outside help in the form of SAT tutoring or ACT tutoring is often the ticket to lowered stress levels and a better grasp of the test material.
I specialize in SAT test prep and ACT test prep and will help you prepare for the verbal section of the SAT, ACT, GRE, or any state-based assessment test by grade. I will assess where you are currently at in your writing, vocabulary, and reading comprehension ability, and we’ll develop a plan together. We’ll go over study tactics so you are able to spend your preparation time efficiently, covering information relevant to the test itself. Additionally, you will complete at least one practice test to increase your comfort level and alleviate any elements of surprise on the big day. We will discuss ways to minimize test day stress and outsmart test-taking intimidation.
With years of experience as an SAT tutor and ACT tutor, I understand the daunting work and required dedication these tests present. All in all, our work together will arm you with well-developed skills and a solid preparedness, and give you the confidence necessary to tackle the section head-on.
“Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.” ~ Samuel Johnson
“Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more.” ~ Edward H. Harriman
Of note: I work with students age 12-17 on SAT prep & ACT prep, and I am of the opinion that, in most instances, earlier groundwork lowers stress and increases chances of a higher score. If you’re wondering if your child is ready to begin the process, schedule a free 15-minute consultation to discuss.
“Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted.” ~ David Bly
