Let’s get you past the various blocks and on to better written correspondence and essay creation, better test scores, and a better understanding of the English language and how to make it work optimally for you.

About Me

My name is Erika Vanvick. I’m a professional writing coach and writing tutor based in Seattle and offering sessions online. I also provide tutoring in SAT test prep and ACT test prep.

Tutoring and coaching are a joy for me, awarding so much of what I love doing in one package: teaching, sharing, and connecting. After earning my B.A. in English from the University of Washington, I knew I wanted to somehow work with both people and the English language. In addition to tutoring and teaching, I have decades of cumulative experience as a marketing copywriter, local newspaper reporter, and freelance copywriter & editor. I’m in my element when sharing my love of and expertise in all forms of writing, grammar, proofreading, and the art of persuasion, and it eventually occurred to me that being a writing tutor and writing coach was the perfect fit. I enjoy working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life to accomplish tasks together…specifically, you accomplishing them with my help.

I began tutoring for fun in 2016.  I loved it so much, I left my corporate editing & marketing job of 11 years to tutor and coach full time. I have over 2,000 hours of one-on-one tutoring, coaching, and test prep behind me, and I love what I do…as much today as I did at hour one.

I look forward to working with you!

About the Process

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore
et dolore magna aliqua.

I offer both online sessions nationally and in-home sessions within the Greater Seattle/Eastside area. I work with students and clients collaboratively in a joint editing program such as Google Docs to save time and maximize the session content and your overall progress.

Everyone’s course of knowledge and skill acquisition is different, and your success follows a trajectory unique to you. We work together to determine your goals and areas for improvement and proceed from there. The idea is to transfer a given skill set to you, so, eventually, you don’t need me anymore.

I recommend keeping sessions to one hour to start. I am available on both a weekly and as-needed basis, and I offer a free initial 15-minute consultation by phone.
